Life Legacy

Samuel N. Ranallo, 92, of Cumberland died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at United Pioneer Home in Luck, WI. He was born March 28, 1920 in Cumberland, WI to James and Rose (Donatelle) Ranallo.

Sam graduated from Dunwoody Technical Institute as a machinist and moved to Baltimore where he worked on the shipyards prior to WWII. He enlisted in the US Army and served in the Panama Canal. Sam returned to Cumberland and was married on May 21, 1946 to Bernice DeDominces who preceded him in death on May 25, 2004. He was also preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister.

Sam purchased and operated the Northwestern Wisconsin Old Dutch Potato Chip Distribution business. He then worked at 3M, and retired after 33 years. He also sold door to door products for Fuller Brush and W.T. Rawleigh and was a founder of Ardisam, Inc. Sam served as First Ward Alderman in Cumberland for many years. He was active in the Catholic Order of Foresters and an avid deer hunter. In his retirement, Sam enjoyed traveling and gardening. Sam was a member of the Anderson-Thomson Post #98 American Legion.

He is survived by 1 daughter, Karen (Poncho) Lindell of Cumberland; 1 son, David (Kathy) Ranallo of Marietta, GA; 6 grandchildren, Shannon, Laurie, Jason, Andrew, Chris and Tony; 5 great grandchildren, Tanner, Grant, Jackson, Kylie and Regan and 2 brothers, Clarence (Rita) Ranallo of St. Anthony Village, MN and Ernie (Bev) Ranallo of California.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, June 9, 2012 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Cumberland, WI with Father Dennis Mullen officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Cumberland, WI. Pallbearers are Jason Lindell, Laurie Lindell, Shannon Asselin, Andrew Ranallo, Chris Ranallo and Tony Ranallo. Military honors were accorded by Anderson-Thomson Post #98 American Legion, Cumberland. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday at the Skinner Funeral Home, Cumberland and one hour prior to service on Saturday at the church.
